Since so many are wondering what the Type 1-4 Eggs are for, here's the basic jist of it:
It takes 5,000 steps to hatch a Type 1 Egg. It takes 10,000 steps to hatch a Type 2 Egg. It takes 20,000 steps to hatch a Type 3 Egg. It takes 30,000 steps to hatch a Type 4 Egg.
Admin has not informed what creatures will hatch from these, so if you do get lucky and find one, hold on to it and you might get a companion aiding you in battle. Do not sell these to the NPC merchants! And only trade if you feel the price is right. You can help the community by writing and displaying what pet you got from each type.

Admin should definitely sticky this. Thanks shadowrated! I've been killing some SAPs on the Penguin Ice Floes (just the awkward ones, the awesome ones are still too strong for me), but I still haven't found a single egg.

I've been killing some SAPs on the Penguin Ice Floes (just the awkward ones, the awesome ones are still too strong for me), but I still haven't found a single egg. I found SAPs in the mountains south of the FoT. And I was lucky enough to get a T2E. My theory is that they nest there and only the male penguins seasonally migrate north to the Ice Floes. This would explain why I've never heard of anyone finding eggs there.
